The Dream Suite: visit other towns in your sleep

Lie down in Katrina's bed and walk around another player's town, even while they are away.

Find the Dream Suite

It stands in The City, on Lantern Square, by the well in the lower town. Katrina writes to every town without its own. On the town map it shows as a bed, labelled Dream Suite.

To build your own, open the map editor and choose Dream Suite under buildings, on an acre of plain grass. Rocks, trees, stumps and weeds in that acre are cleared. Flowers stay. A notice goes up on your town board.

Have a dream

You need to be logged in, with 500 Bells.

  1. Talk to Katrina and pick "I'll dream".
  2. Choose a town from your friends, the featured towns or the newest, or type a dream code.
  3. Lie down in the bed. The 500 Bells are taken as you fall asleep, and your game is saved.

You explore alone, and nothing you do changes the real town.

A dream from the City lasts 5 minutes, and you can look but not pick anything up. To everyone in the City, you are asleep in the Suite. A dream from your own Dream Suite has no time limit.

Wake up

  • Talk to Katrina and pick "Wake up", or lie down in the bed again.
  • You wake in the Dream Suite you fell asleep in, with your pockets and Bells as they were.
  • Nothing from a dream comes home with you.
  • No train runs through a dream, so Porter sends you back to Katrina.
  • In The City, the dream ends after five minutes. If your pockets are open when time runs out, you wake as soon as you close them.
  • Closing the game during a dream is safe. Your town is as you left it.

Share your town

  1. Talk to Katrina and pick "Share my town".
  2. Press Publish my dream. This copies your town as it is now.
  3. Give your dream code to friends, or switch on Show in the public list.
  • Visitors can't change your town.
  • Letters, your diary, gyroid messages, the town board, album names, birthdays and other players' names are left out of the copy.
  • The copy keeps your town and island, your players' names, belongings and designs, the pictures in your album, and your villagers and their catchphrases. Your display name shows beside it.
  • You can update your dream once a day, or remove it. Anyone who has the code can download the copy, and a downloaded copy can't be recalled.
  • When you pick "I'll dream", your own dream shows at the top under Yours, with whether it is in the public list. You can dream of it too, and walk around your town as a visitor.

To visit a friend at the same time, use multiplayer instead.

Reporting a dream

Each town in Katrina's list has a Report button, and there is another on screen while you dream. You choose what is wrong: rude or hateful writing, offensive designs or pictures, personal information, or something else. Moderators review what is reported.
