The City: a town everyone can ride to

Getting there

1. Sign in and start your town on the play page.
2. Open Friends and press Enter The City.
3. Talk to Porter at your station and take the train.

To join a friend who's already there, press Join (their name) in The City in your friends list.

To leave, take the train home or press Leave The City.

What's there

• Nookington's, both floors. Same stock for everyone that day.
• Tybalt's barber shop, south of the station.
• Joan's flower shop, south of Nookington's.
• The post office.
• Main Street, with benches, a café and flower beds.

You pay with your own Bells and keep what you buy.

Meeting people

• React with the smiley button or keys 1 to 9.
• Chat with the chat button or T, up to 100 characters.
• New accounts have to wait a while before they can chat here.
• To add a friend, tap their name in the chat and press Add friend. Then you can visit their town.
• Each room holds 16 players.

What you can't do

The City is look-only. You can't dig, plant, drop or pick things up, chop or shake trees, move furniture, fish, catch bugs or go to the island. It resets every time you go in.

Time, weather, villagers and bugs come from your own game, so they may not match other players'.

When the City is updated you get a countdown, then you're sent home. Standing idle too long also disconnects you; press Rejoin to come back.

Staying safe

• The City is public. Never share personal info.
• Tap or click a name in the chat to mute, block or report that player.
• Blocked players can't see you and won't be put in your room.
