Design paths: your designs on the ground

Lay any of your designs flat on the ground, one square at a time, to make paths, plazas and patterns.

A player walking along a wooden boardwalk, across a brick plaza and down a cobbled path, all laid from their own designs.

Laying a path

  1. Open your pockets and go to your designs.
  2. Pick a design and choose Place.
  3. It goes down on the square in front of you.

Place the same design on it again to turn it a quarter turn. Place a different design to swap it.

Picking one up

Stand still facing the path, or on top of it, and press B. The design stays in your designs, so you can lay it again. Pressing B to run along a path won't pick it up.

Good to know

  • Paths go on empty, flat grass or dirt in your own town. The dump and the spots kept for new neighbours' houses stay clear.
  • Redraw a design and every path made from it changes too.
  • They sound like stone underfoot, and villagers walk on them.
  • Friends who visit see your paths, but only people who live in the town can lay or pick them up.
  • A town holds up to 2,180 path squares.
